Overlooking Piazza Gae Aulenti and the Porta Nuova Garden – Biblioteca degli Alberi, the new COIMA headquarters completes one of the most significant urban regeneration projects in Europe. Designed by Mario Cucinella Architects and developed over five floors with a gross area of 2,400 sqm, the building represents a model of sustainable and relational architecture.
The project included structural reinforcement works, the construction of above-ground structures in steel framing and cast-in-place reinforced concrete, the installation of a glass curtain wall with natural larch wood decorative cladding, as well as the MEP systems and complete interior fit-out. The building is conceived as an urban greenhouse, enclosed by two glulam structural wings that define its material character and emphasize the relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
LEED Platinum certified, the new COIMA headquarters incorporates 15% Cradle-to-Cradle® (C2C) certified materials and products, used for both construction and interior finishes (including flooring, carpeting, curtains, suspended ceilings, and seating). This approach ensures future recyclability, the absence of harmful substances, and full alignment with circular economy principles.
The interior layout was designed to be fully flexible, with no traditional offices for top management and no fixed workstations, promoting mobility, interaction, and diverse workplace settings. The environments respond to the specific needs of each corporate function, fostering well-being, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
