Politecnico di Milano Campus di Lecco
Lecco

Project Description

Descrizione progetto

Permeability, integration, sustainability: these are the three key principles of interpretation of the new "University Campus" of the regional Lecco site of the Politecnico di Milano, created through a public tender covering an area of over 16,000 sq.m. adjacent to the city centre, by a temporary association of enterprises with Colombo Costruzioni SpA as Groupleader and General Contractor. This philosophy coincides with the complete natural transparency of the large library, the lightness of the south-facing fronts of the new bodies of the construction destined for didactic activities, laboratories and didactic services, which are conducted on three floors above ground and on one basement floor. To connect the 19th century old hospital structure to the two new blocks for teaching there is a "body comb", functioning as a distributive and connecting route between the pre-existant arms that host the administrative offices and the didactic services, divided at the two north-east heads by two large glass facades. Colombo Costruzioni has additionally created in the area of the Campus the new CNR National Research Centre site, which covers 4,600 sq.m. on four levels and contains the laboratories of seven institutes.
