Located south of Milan’s inner ring road, just a few steps from the Bocconi University campus, Aparto Milan Giovenale is a new student housing complex built under a private contract. Developed by Hines Italy and designed by Carmody Groarke in collaboration with Calzoni Architetti, the project consists of three distinct yet interconnected volumes, arranged in an “L”-shaped configuration around a landscaped central courtyard.
The building rises ten stories above ground and provides approximately 600 beds, distributed among various room types, studios, and apartments. In addition to the residential units, the complex includes a wide range of shared spaces for study, fitness, leisure, and social activities, designed to foster interaction among students and encourage community events.
The façades are clad in reconstituted ceppo stone using locally sourced aggregates, featuring varying textures and tones between the lower and upper levels. The interiors are furnished with custom-designed elements in certified wood, supplied by Italian manufacturers. The project has achieved LEED Gold certification, becoming the first student residence in Milan to obtain this level of environmental recognition.
