The new commercial complex rises on the slopes of the Armea Valley, near Sanremo, within a landscape context characterized by hilly morphology, lush vegetation, and panoramic sea views. Developed for a private client, the project involved the construction of an exclusive outlet composed of two autonomous yet integrated buildings, with a total surface area of approximately 30,000 sqm.
The development extends over two functional lots. On Lot 1, located uphill, the works included the renovation and expansion of a large retail building, designed along the natural slope to connect multiple commercial levels into a single, continuous “ground floor”. The lower building, corresponding to Lot 2, accommodates six retail units, each measuring 250 sqm, and is visually and functionally connected to the main commercial plaza, forming an active axis with double glazed façades and direct sea views.
At the heart of the project lies an inclined plaza that traverses the core of the shopping center, linking the different levels through an integrated system of pedestrian paths, elevators, stairs, and landscaped ramps. The roof of the lower building extends beyond the built perimeter, creating a covered plaza in the bar and service area, directly connected to the terraced public park and Via Armea, establishing a highly recognizable urban entrance.
The intervention also included a complete reconfiguration of vehicular and pedestrian flows, with particular attention to accessibility and integration between architecture, public space, and landscape. The design goal was to ensure maximum usability of the commercial spaces through seamless continuity between indoor and outdoor areas, creating a new urban hub that is open, permeable, and harmoniously integrated into its surroundings.
